Tom Alperin is president and founding partner of National Development where he oversees all of the firm’s activities. National Development is an interdisciplinary real estate company and investor that provide development, construction, and property services. The Newton, Massachusetts-based firm is one of the largest real estate development firms in Massachusetts. National has a diverse product base with major projects in the office, industrial, retail, multi-family, senior housing, hotel, and institutional sectors. National Development has developed over 28 million square feet in over 45 communities throughout the region. The firm currently manages over 8 million square feet of space and 2,300 multifamily units, and has over 1.5 million square feet of development projects underway. Tom is also a partner in Charles River Realty Investors LLC III, a $290 million equity fund that invests in value-added real estate primarily in the greater Boston area.

Tom’s real estate professional affiliations include serving on the board of directors for NAIOP Massachusetts, and serving as NAIOP’s past chairman and president; and serving as a member, former director and former treasurer of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB). He is also a member and past chairman of the Massachusetts Assisted Living Facilities Association (Mass ALFA).

His community activities include serving as a trustee of Tufts University; and chair of the University’s real estate committee and founder/advisor to the Tisch School of Public Citizenship and Service. Tom is a board member of the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation. He has served as a past co-chairman and director of Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL); and as a trustee of Boston Medical Center and Newton Wellesley Hospital.

He is a graduate of Tufts University and lives in Boston with his wife Marsha and has three children.
