James D. Hill, AIA, AICP, is a Principal at House+Partners, where he leads their multifamily design studio. During his career, Mr. Hill has been involved in all aspects of the practice of architecture and urban design. He has extensive experience leading architectural design teams on a broad range of residential, educational, research, and mixed-use projects. His planning experience includes a number of urban design and revitalization plans in established inner-city areas, as well as master plans for large, mixed-use developments. His background in architecture, planning, and engineering gives him the broad, multi-disciplinary skills crucial for success in large, complex design projects. Mr. Hill has written extensively and spoken publicly on planning and urban design issues, is a recognized authority on form-based development codes, has been published in the Houston Chronicle, Texas Architect, AIA Perspective, and has appeared on several local radio and television stations.

Mr. Hill holds Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Architecture degrees, both from Rice University. He has been a Houston resident for 43 years.
