Michael J. Mini

Since January 2014, Michael Mini has served as Executive Vice President of the Chicagoland Apartment Association (CAA), managing the daily operations of the professional association that represents over 175 multifamily property owner/manager companies, 4,000 industry professionals, 1200 properties, and 200,000 apartment units. In this role, Mini has leveraged his experience and relationships to promote the interests of the apartment industry to elected officials, government agencies, civic organizations and the media. Working with the Board of Directors, he is responsible for achieving strategic and financial success, and ensuring that the association goals and values are met.
Prior to joining the CAA, Mini served as Vice President of Public Policy at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, representing over 1600 businesses and a million employees throughout northern Illinois. Mini executed an aggressive legislative and political agenda that advanced public policies at the local, state and federal level to foster economic development and job creation. He served as the Chamber’s chief local lobbyist, managed public policy committees and the Chamber PAC, and oversaw legislative and regulatory research and advocacy efforts.
Mini was Managing Director of the REALTORS® Commercial Alliance of the National Association of REALTORS® and was point person on commercial real estate legislative and regulatory issues at the federal level. He also served as Government Affairs Director of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, and was Legislative Analyst for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), monitoring property management issues as part of the NAR’s Government Affairs Division in Washington, D.C. He worked in the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs at Pace – the suburban bus division of the RTA.
A graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a degree in Political Science, Mini has been a legislative aide and worked on state and national political campaigns.
