Mark Stern joined Waterton in 2002 and serves as senior vice president of multifamily acquisitions, responsible for sourcing acquisitions in the Western region of the United States. Since joining Waterton, Stern has sourced in excess of $2 billion of acquisitions in markets around the Midwest, West Coast and Southwest regions.

Stern has focused on acquisitions of multifamily properties nationwide since 1995. Prior to joining Waterton, he served as manager of acquisitions and dispositions for Moran and Company, where he was responsible for the Midwest and Denver regions. Before that, Stern was vice president of acquisitions for TVO Realty Partners. During his five-year tenure at TVO, the company purchased 12,000 units with a capitalization of approximately $1 billion. Stern began his career as an analyst with RREEF.

Stern currently is chairman of the Urban Land Institute’s Multifamily Silver Council and sits on the membership committee of National Multi Housing Council (NMHC), as well as on the board of Weiss Memorial Hospital. He received his bachelor’s degree in political economy at The Colorado College.
