Ed Murn, Managing Director, Head of The Residential & Development Divisions joined Washington REIT in April 2013. From his 30 years in the industry, he has a comprehensive understanding of real estate investment, development, capital markets and asset management. His primary experience is in the multi-family and mixed-use arena. At WashREIT, he is responsible for providing leadership and management to all phases of the Residential Division including sourcing new development opportunities, pursuing new acquisitions, and overseeing all residential operations. His current portfolio consists of 14 existing assets totaling 4,500 units and a 1,200 unit development pipeline located throughout the DC Metro Area.

Prior to joining WashREIT, he served as Director of Development for The Tower Companies. One of his primary responsibilities at Tower was the oversight of the revitalization, renovation, master planning and management of the 27 acre mixed-use community known as The Blairs, the company’s flagship property in downtown Silver Spring, MD across from the Metro/MARC/Amtrak transit station. Prior to Tower, he was Vice President of Multifamily Development for Kettler managing a multifamily team responsible for the development of over 3,600 units. Previously, he was Director of Acquisitions & Development for Archstone Smith Trust and Director of Capital Markets at Charles E. Smith Residential Realty.

A member of the Urban Land Institute, Mr. Murn earned an MBA with a concentration in finance from Loyola University and a Masters of Science in Real Estate with a concentration in institutional real estate investment from Johns Hopkins University. He holds a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in finance and marketing from the University of Richmond. He is married with three children and resides in McLean, VA. Most of his spare time is filled with family activities, but once in a while he gets to sneak out and go fishing, one of his true passions.
